Overview of the Experiment

The Research Experiment of Image-based Behavioral Analysis at Central Terrace Area (approved by the Research Ethics Committee) will be implemented using 16 cameras.

In this experiment, Osaka University Institute for Datability Science acquires the behavioral image data of traffic (multiple unspecified individuals) and establishes the behavioral Institute for Datability analysis technique based on image analysis.

Research Purpose

Creation of new products and services in various fields for people to live healthily and prosperously by utilizing IoT and big data.

[Goal]

• To collect data available for technical development of human behavior analysis technology such as human flow measurement technology, person authentication, person understanding, product development, lectures on data analysis etc.
• To establish human behavior analysis technology
• To develop basic technology such as numerous video stream analysis and data management technology
• To collect information on factors and processes that can be important for social implementation of human behavior analysis using various sensors

Perform analysis based on many characteristics that are derived from human image processing (e.g. face, gait)

Purpose and Contents of the Experiment

The cameras will be installed on the premises of Central Terrace Area to:

• Capture the targets on walkways, etc. as image data; and
• Use the captured images to develop and evaluate the image analysis technology.

Open meetings for experiment and workshops will be held to:

• Receive participants' feedback including expectations and concerns; and
• Gain insights for improving the procedure and operation of cameras.

As the place of demonstration experiment, image-based behavioral analysis technology will be used to:

• Detect abnormal actions.
• Conduct energy saving experiments.

Usage and Management of Data

The data will be used only for the purpose of the study notified at the time of data acquisition.

[Restriction of area for handling the data]

The data will be used only in the designated areas of ISIR (The Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka Univ.) and Cybermedia Center.

[Restriction of data users]

The data will be used only by individuals who have followed the designated procedure and obtained approval. The names of data users will be disclosed on the experiment webpage "Members." More information is described in "Privacy Policy."
